General drivel.

I am annoyed (and I bet i'm not the only one)!

I had an appointment at the doctors this afternoon at 4.30. Nothing serious, just a review of the pills I am taking to combat the Acid Reflux I suffer from. We duly arrived at 4.25, and took our seats. Bear in mind my Dad was with me. At 5.30 we walked out and made another appointment, with three people still in front of me!

My patience levels aren't good at the best of times, but there were two reasons for my ire. Firstly, Dad is making a lamb casserole for dinner, which he usually times to be ready at 6.00pm. This won't be ready until 7.30pm. Secondly, I have an important meeting with my financial adviser at 7.45. Right in the middle of dinner!!

Why can't doctors space their appoinment times out a bit more?

What say you?!

Doctors are always running late. It takes them longer with some patients. I don't know what would happen if they spaced their appointments more. What I do is to avoid making an appointment with anyone else if I have to see the doctor.

Acid reflux. It's a GOOD thing our post office has made it so difficult to send packages and I can't send the pepper sauce...that's really reeeeally bad for acid reflux.

Ah - I remember reading the "results" when you tried GG's pepper sauce on the folks at The Merrie Monk.

Any chance you can entice the Hollybush's Chef to do likewise - so it can be served it up to the bar's regulars when they say they want Hot chilli flavours?

I SOOO Agree. I understand Doctors are busy.....But, one would hope that they might respect YOUR time, as much as they want you to respect theirs...!!!

In the past, I've experienced another annoying thing---after waiting for a VERY long time, they finally take you into a room and then you wait for another very long time, in your "gown".....UGH!
I hope you will finally get to see the Doctor, my dear John....

Thank-you, Naomi. I have re-scheduled for Tuesday at 4.00pm.

My doctor now has at least one Nurse Practitioner on his staff. When I had that sore throat thing I got to see her the same day I called. Almot no wait, she looked at it, wrote a prescription, and the next day it was vastly improved.

I've also noted that many (if not most) dr.'s offices take patients in the order they arrive, rather than by the appointment time. It pays to get there early.

Yeah, I totally empathise with you on this one, John. I've been registered with several different surgeries around the country and attended many many appointments with my daughter when she was going through her illness/chemo, and without exception, found waiting times to be appalling - I can't see a valid reason other than piss-poor management!!! A 2-year-old dog-eared copy of Hello magazine doesn't help much to relieve the frustration either!

Ironically, a few years ago, I went to the private BUPA hospital for an appointment with my ex-wife, where I actually WANTED to wait longer!
No sooner had we arrived in the very welcoming waiting area, helped ourselves to the complimentary fresh coffee, sat down on the deep comfortable sofa, glanced at Sky News on the TV, picked up a copy of The Times, bit into a complimentary chocolate biscuit, when we were called in!!! 5 minutes after walking through the front door!!!

Hmmm, I feel better now after a bit of a rant...

A rant is good for you!

I thought this couldn't happen now and that you had to report it if you were waiting longer than 15 minutes or so.
