Betting on the Gee-Gees.

I have this friend, see? Sometimes he can be a bit dim. I don’t think it has anything to do with the fact he is in a wheelchair, or that he drinks rather a lot at times, but he likes to have a bet on the gee-gees occasionally. Well; all the time really if the truth be known.

On Saturday he chose several horses to waste his money on, but none of them came anywhere. In fact they may still be running. The other way!

What my friend didn't notice that there was a horse called “Triggers Friend” running. Now my friend is a big fan of the real ‘Trigger’ who haunts the “Merrie Monk “ pub, and taunts Di, the landlady. No doubt some of you out there will have noticed that my friend sometimes speaks kindly of him on this blog.

The upshot is that my friend, failed to notice that this horse was running, and a rank outsider at that. It WON at 66 to 1! He confessed to me in the pub today that he didn't put any money on it. I must admit that I don’t like to see a grown man cry, it’s very upsetting, so I ran out to the "Gents" to have a good cry myself laugh. Ha, ha, ha, ha. . . Jeez! What a wally. . .

Lovely stuff guys, thanks for the laughter and smiles.

Do ya mean Trigger actually has a friend, even if it is a horse?

Tell John he'll have to put his glasses on when he reads the paper - or else make sure he's sober before betting!

John - Flattery will get you everywhere, but not as far as a pint!

How did you know my mum and dad weren't married?

I would've splashed out with a 50p each way bet...........each way meaning I would've expected it to run there & back!

Was that our Belmont Stakes? Cause that is pretty much what happened here in the States....The Expected "winner" came in LAST...And the Horse expected to come in last WON! I LOVE things like that...I rarely gamble but when I use to go to The Races here...I ALWAYS had to put a small bet on the Horse that was 60 to One or 80 to One....!
Sad that your buddy didn't do that and you, too, my dear!

Thanks for the lovely compliment....I'm afraid that was then, and now? Well, let's just say, I don't look like that anymore...to put it mildly...lol!

But if they put him out to grass, people will soon expect him to run in the races too.
