Pub news.
It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you that despite my best efforts, the pub is soon to close and become an Indian restaurant! The pub is no longer financially viable and Di needs to move on.
She doesn't have a date yet, but I will keep you updated.
What will become of my blog, I don't know yet, but the jokes will continue! Thirty years using the same pub holds many happy memories!
On a lighter note, Di, our everso lovely soaker landlady locked herself out of the pub again! She also announced that when she moves back into her flat she is going to paint the dildo white!!
I think she means ......dado!

Oh no, that's dreadful news. My cyber-visits to the Merrie Monk keep me just about sane as I live my life among Frogs over here.
Where will you go now? Is there another boozer close by?
Still, I also like Indian grub!
I've found another boozer nearby, but it wont be the same!
I hate Indian food!
What a bummer, John!!!! What a loss to the community there.
It really is Karmyn!
OMGoodness I haven't read any blogs for simply ages and I come here to read this awful news. You must all be gutted-you have shared some wonderful stories with us and I'm sure it will really be a loss to your community.
Oh, that's not good. Punjablog doesn't have the same ring to it.
Commiserations to Di.
That stinks. Poor Di.
That's not good news. How am I going to visit you when I get to UK? I was so looking forward to meeting Di too! AW SHUCKS!!!
Oh crap! I hope you get entertained in your new boozer but I for one will miss Di and her escapades a lot!
Thank-you all for your kind comments!
Did some drinking there myself in a past life. It seems to have been there forever and should remain open. Unfortunately things move on :(
Anonymous, how long ago?
Sad. No more Sunday lunchtime nibbles on the bar, no Di (Bless her little cotton socks!), no more friendly banter with the regulars; I shall certainly miss the place.
I don't eat Indian food anyway, tastes awful. Once was enough!
That's the third pub closing in this area this week. The "Lord Nelson" in my town has closed, "The Plough" next door to me is hardly ever open and will be closing in October. (Can't say I'm sorry about "The Plough" though, it's too LOUD! The 'background' music that is.)
Sad news, John. Really hope you find another pub that you will feel comfortable enough to share with us. Especially if Keith can be lured in there with his beer detector.
At least promise us you will carry on with Joke Tuesday?
I sympathize totally. About a year ago the coffee house I frequented moved about six miles away--past an interstate exit. I didn't even bother trying to find it--didn't feel like driving six miles through traffic.
I really miss the casual socialization and the people.
You must find another place to socialise, JohnG.
Is Di sad? How is she since she decided to close the pub? I will miss the tales about her ditzy self, though we all KNOW you made up those stories!!
How can an Indian restaurant make money there when everyone prefers the pub?
Sad news indeed. I just hope the boozer appreciates you and you can make it your own.
Do you like Indian food?
G.G, I have another pub to use, but, apart from me there are no idiots in there........yet!
Blazing, joke Tuesday is guaranteed!
Excellent!
It really is sad that the MM is closing - yet another bit of British life that will bite the dust. I hope Di gets sorted with something else & wish her all the best.
As for you John, I'm happy to read the jokes will still flow, but sad that you're going to have to find another watering hole :-(
Anonymous replies. About 30 years ago, a popular stop for a pint on a Friday/Saturday night away from town.
