Madness!

Politically correct lunacy!

Cambridge University is advising its academics to avoid proffering their hand in greeting to Muslims and the disabled in the event that it offends them.

Please tell me, as a cripple, that it is not just me who thinks this is stupidity in the extreme!

You may remember, my brother is a cripple and it offends him when people do not extend their hands. It's like they think paralysis is catching and don't want to touch him for fear of infection.

Madness indeed!

OMG - stop the insanity. Really? Ridiculousness.

I hate that I have to be careful offending people when they are here in MY country. When I'm in another country I try and be sensible to THEIR customs. I figure they need to do the same when they are somewhere else too.

I offended a nice muslim lady that I knew and hadn't seen for a long time. I embraced her and said how nice it was to see her. She jumped back and told me that it was not proper for her to be embraced or touched by a non-muslim. A handshake was OK though.

One makes these gaffs sometimes, but as to shaking hands with you. . . .well, that's OK if you are forcing money into my hand and saying "Get yourself a drink, mate!"
