Garden news.

This is looking really impressive this year and will get better, but, what is it?

I'm not much of a gardener John, but is it some kind of wisteria (Japanese type?) - if not then I'm baffled...

All the best

Dave

Hello, Elaine. Afraid not.

The flowers remind me of Stachyurus praecox but I am stumped.
BTW - I love your blog I am a long time lurker from back in the Merrie Monk days. Keep up the good work

Hi John

The missus just peered over my shoulder (she who used to work in a garden centre) and identified it straight off as Garrya Elliptica - the Silk Tassel Bush...I knew she'd have her uses some day!

She also says it's a nice specimen!

All the best

Dave
