Thought for the day.

There was an article in The Daily Telegraph the other day about some study by scientists with nothing better to do that claimed, if you were born before colour television became commonplace your dreams will be in black and white!

I was born in 1962,and after consulting my sub-concious the other night, found I dream in both colour and black and white. Try it and let me know!

I was born in 1970, I dream in colour. but I have to wonderwhat these blokes are on... do they think that people who were born before tv would have only dreamt in sound... and pre radio people didn't dream at all????

LMAO Stueykins! Who knows?

We certainly didn't have a colour TV when I was very young (Dad waited a long while before we got one) but I've always dreamed in colour, widescreen with stereo surround sound (even though in real life I no longer have stereo hearing)

emsquared, hi! Why do they do these studies?

Hi John -No doubt there was some funding up for grabs somewhere.

I was born in 1974, and some dream sequences are in B&W, others are in colour.

I think it's an odd quiery. Did people not have dreams at all before television?

Great point Stueykins. I was born in the 60's, but we did not even have a tv until I was 2 1/2. It was, btw, colour. I do not recall dreaming in B&W, but I don't recall not. My most memorable, and my re-occurring dreams have colour memories...but maybe the B&W ones were not memorable.

Hi, Jeannie, can't remember dreams pre-TV! Too young!

Unknown said...

Hi,Keli, if you think about this you should remember tomorrow. I tried it and it worked, although the more recent dreams are colour!

Color dreams all the way for me. We had both color and B&W TV when I was a kid. I agree with Stueykins - what if you've never seen a TV. What do you dream in then ~ sepia?

Ask Keith if he dreams in stereopticon...

My dreams are generally technicolor surround sound, even tho' I was born in 1960. Our 1st TV was a Ford Philco (B&W), and I still have a 13" B&W in my closet that I used up through college years.

So if you put a tray on your head you would get Sky Sports? Cool - gotta be cheaper than the pub

I have no idea which colour I dream in. I think it's probably colour.. Now GETTING colour tv in the early 70's was a BIG thing though. We had to have a 30 foot aerial, because we lived in rural hilly Derbyshire. It was hildarious. tErhe we were, in the middle of the Peak District, amidst strict plannning laws, with a 30 foot aerial on top of the house, apparently untouchable.......

I was born at the end of the summer of love 1967 and I remember dreaming both black and white and colour dreams since I was a kid. Nowadays they are actually mainly in colour with various different languages thrown in. Weird...? Yes I am :)

Thank-you all for your comments!

Goth, I expected that! LOL!

My point exactly, Chrisb!

I had lots of dreams last night and they were sort of sepia but as you know I am ancient.

Mum2, LOL!

Hello there! Found you through Keli, Karmyn, and Chrisb. I was born in 1970 and dream in color. I don't think the TV has much to do with it! We had both color and B & W TV's when I was growing up.

Unknown said...

Welcome,Kila. I dream in both, but i do agree with what you say.

Well we already discussed all this on plurk and came to the conclusion that you and I are both artistic souls! Color, black & white, sometimes just the sense of color, and yeah, now that someone mentioned it, I have had sort of sepia toned dreams before. Weird.

Early years were with B&W TV, color TV came into the home in my tween years.

We didn't have tv until the 1980's!!!

Next thing they will be sayoing that if you were born in the 60s you dream in mono, stereo 70s to
90's, post 1990 in 5.1.

Nothing like a subwoofer at 2.30am.

I've never even stopped to wonder if my dreams are in b&w or colour.......why would I? What relevence does it have? Mind you, I spose if Gordon Brown could tax the answers, he would!
I've caught up on all the posts I missed whilst riding around my home country. Jokes have been forwarded to me dad & I sent an email to Di telling her to keep you in line!!
