General drivel.

The festive season is almost upon us. As regular readers of this drivel will know, my father and me are not fans. Christmas is for kids. We do, however, look forward to two things. The first thing is the arrival of the first card, because we know who it is from and is always rude, but funny. We have known Janet for 38 years and she never lets us down. December 5th every year!

Here is this years offering.

The second thing we look forward to, is Christmas Day dinner ay my sisters house. Always a great meal, and always a good laugh. We supply the wine, they (BIL) cook!

I was breathalysed once. When I got back in the car, my mum said "what was the result?" "Zero, obviously," I replied - it was 5 pm and I'd just driven 250 miles. I'm still a bit annoyed, and that was 12 years ago.

I should let go. Breathe, Z, breathe.

If you let me know your address, I'll send you a Christmas card. But it'll probably be clean, sadly. x

Love the card & I think its a wonderful thing that Janet sends you a card every year, especially if it's a cheeky one!

I too enjoy the food and getting together more than all the rest. I took over the Xmas day cooking in Dec 2000 as Mum made such a chore of it. I get to have lots of fun in their "heaps bigger than mine" kitchen and Mum gets to relax.

Will be roast lamb this year (tis already in the Folks' freezer) with new potatos from Dad's garden (and other veg), followed by Summer Pudding - and a couple of bottles of wine between the 3 of us, hic hic hooray!

I always feel sad for my mother this time of the year...she misses her other children, and she misses my dad, and she talks about old times a lot.
