Village church.

As you know,I am not religious, but I do like a nice church/cathedral from an architectural perspective, and nice trees.

Leire church

Dad, unfortunately is not a dab hand with the digital revolution, and cut the spire off!

This is about 100yds from our house, and always flowers just as our tree finishes.

Here's another angle. Still no spire!

Leire church

Leire(pronounced, lear) is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. For a little bit of history, visit http://www.leire.net/ and follow the links.

Well he got the tree didn't he? Once you've seen one spire you've seen 'em all:)

Well it's there. What's going on?

That tree looks absolutely GORGEOUS! What kind of tree is it? The color is "knock-Out"...!
The Church looks very very pretty too, in spite of now spire..lol!

Old lady, it's some form of flowering cherry. We have one in the back garden, but it's not as big as that!

Mum2, he does ok!

Even the photo on the website doesn't show the whole spire so your dad didn't do so badly. He's a dab hand at gardening though isn't he.

Sandy, he's a star!

I love the look of old churches too. At least he got the entire tree in the pic!

If Gordon is as good with a gun as he is with a camera then you had better keep the gun-cupboard locked!

Didn't he notice the spire when he took the piccie then?

I'll pass the message on Grumps!

The tree is is lovely ~ never mind the spire!

You can just photoshop the spire in, how hard could that be?

Lovely tree.

How come The Merrie Monk isn't mentioned on the "Leire" site?

The Leire web site pictures have also missed the spire! As Marilyn Manson states in his song The Beautiful People: It's all relative to the size of your steeple :)

I love old church architecture, too, especially in your part of the world. When I was at Canterbury, I think I took about 400 photos of the cathedral. (Not all of them were keepers, of course...)

Churches are tricky things to photograph. Most of mine are either vertical shots up the spire, complete with overexposed sky (or underexposed building) and cutting off the rest of the church, or they look like your dad's.

But his photos aren't that bad really, and the tree is very, very pretty.

Mickle, the Merrie Monk isn't in Leire!

Farty's right. Just photoshop in the missing bit.

Just use the in-spire button.

I think we've established the fact that the tree is of more interest than the chuch to most readers anyway so no harm done. You'll just burn in hell. ;-)

Right! Enough of the photoshop jibes! I can't undersyand the thing!

well i for one am more interested in the church, spire or no spire, I don't care, but I like the look of ( and visiting) old buildings, much to the dismay of my family:):):)...especially on holidays,it's only good that none of them shares my love for England:)

Such a lovely photo of a typical English village church, complete with a pretty tree in full flower.
I wonder how long it'll be before there's an objection to the church actually being there & it being insensitive to other religions? Check out spare corners in the village John......you might be getting a mosque in future!

Oh & BTW, despite the reference to Harleys, that bike wmv you sent me was bloody funny, thanks!!

Nothing quite like an English church and blossom!
