Dilemma!
I have a problem(no jokes please). Dad has found newts in our ponds again.
Now, do I leave them in peace, or should I talk to them, like Zoe? Ithink I shall leave them alone, because if I bend down to have a chat, i'll fall in the damn pond!
I've called one Zoe, and the other Q, he's a twat because he hasn't shagged her yet. No eggs.

No eggs? Perhaps they are both lady newts.
Mr.Farty, you tell that to Zoe.....shudder.
What? No eggs from Zoe? Or do you mean the newts?
Is this the latest new(t)s then?
Keith, I think I could be in the shit here!
Maybe they've been drinking too much!!! Definitely leave them untalked to. Ponds are very smelly slimy things to fall into!
OK so all the jokes are done so I'm going to ask what the problem is with newts?
Do you think Isaac Newton would be able to help with your problem?
Isn't he with "Apple"?
Beccy, no problem with newts, I think they are lovely.
Anonymous, I think you could be right. But it wont get me out of the pond!
Sally, yes they are, but useful for wildlife. Especially if i don't fall in!
oh my, you have newts and one is called zoe! how absolutely deeevine. what i want to know is what your newts look like. are they like mine, with bright orange bellies ?
oh, and according to the ex who knows everything (which is exactly why he IS an ex), the newts that have a sort of dinosaury thing going down their backs are male.
if your dad can catch one in a net, do get a picture - but make sure that he doesn't have anything on his hands (such as hand cream ...) as that can kill them.
oh, and the eggs should have hatched by now - i believe they lay them under the gunk at the bottom of the pond, or in the weeds.
Zoe, dear, i'm sorry to disappoint you, but they are common newts. Not a name in keeping with someone of you status in the blogosphere.
You are correct about the crest on the back of the male. And they lay their eggs under the leaves of the pondweed.
"...they lay their eggs under the leaves of the pondweed."
Thats newts to me! Perhaps you should get some pondweed then?
