Songs, opening lines.

I think this has been done before, but here goes.

I give you the opening line, you tell me the artist and the track, ( I like rock music, 70's/80's).

  1. There's a lady who knows........
  2. I awoke this morning, love laid me down by the river........
  3. Down from the glen came the marching men.......
  4. The dogs of war........
  5. Ground control to Major Tom........
  6. She keeps a Moet et Chandon........
  7. Just a castaway.......
  8. Look up on the wall, then down on the floor......
  9. These mist covered mountains..............
  10. If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?..........

Good luck !

Hey I've got a claim to fame.My ex's cousin is married to Phil Lynot's brother (I have no idea if I spelled that correctly)Now there's an ode to six degrees of separation! As for the songs I have no idea apart from the dire straits and Thin Lizzy ones that everyone's already guessed.Yes I am rubbish!

Phoenix, what years would you like?

Anonymous said...

I didn't know any of them....

We often play a game where we choose a theme and then try to find as many songs as we can to fit the theme.

eg water
Car wash
It's raining men
Moon river etc

a game that starts at a dinner party often continues for weeks with text messages. I know, I'm a saddo.

Unknown said...

Mutley, never mind.

Minx, it's raining men! Now I thought you might!

Richard Wintle said...

Hum. I only got three without hints from others (Zep, Dire Straits, Bowie) although the Floyd one jumped to mind too.

Sad that I missed the Police and Skynyrd ones, though.

Oh, and now that you said "Genesis", let me be the first (I think nobody else got it) - ABACAB. One of the shining highlights of the increasingly dismal Phil Collins years.

Richard Wintle said...

Oh, and bonus question...

"Sitting on a park bench..."

Shaz said...

Might be able to follow No. 5 if you give me a moment but the rest are all oblivion to me, too young, obviously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mid 80's to present day please.Although the 80's may be a bit fuzzy cos that's when I found out that disco's were made for snogging boys, not listening to the music;-)Saying that though I did memorise the whole of the Brother's in arms album cos I fancied the head boy and he loved Dire Sraits-I am that shallow hee hee

Mr Farty said...

Drat, I'm too late.

I only knew Zep, Bowie, Queen (first single I ever bought) and Skynnyrd anyway...should have got Police and Dire Straits, still have the albums on vinyl...sigh...

Unknown said...

Never mind Farty, I have to do a more modern one for Phoenix, so you can have another go!

Beccy said...

Maybe I'm too old then? Don't like the thought of that at all!!!!!
